i do believe that your body is the best measure of what you are capable to do... even if i tend to let work rule most of the time...
my colleague A is ever so sweet and thoughtful and right with her concern when she spotted me wheezing away... and me trying to be positive about my state of being... y'know... coping strategy?!
"Yeah, I hope you take care of yourself! Your mental and emotional [health] is equally if not more important than what you're working on, and taking care of yourself will help you work better in the long run!
No idea about The Man, I'll let you know if I see him walkin' around with his briefcase! "
A sits a few desk cubicles away from the office of 'The Man'... and i am on the other side of the lab space's milky-way... isolated by man-made cosmic walls. i pass A on my way to the library/coffee-room; the banks of Eridanus where the celestial creatures sometimes play.
'The Man' in reference is our boss/supervisor... who is not only a jet-setter, but a busy-bee... to catch his attention, i've had to learn to be perceptive and observant about the 'open-door' behaviours, mood-auras of the 'cloud of stress', and devise bizarre but tactful attention-seeking schemes... on the fly. maybe i could patent (everything and anything seems to be patented in the US!) these someday... it's rather 'darwinian' sociobiology, in essence, really.
and so, heeding A's advise, and for the first in a very many days, i went home at 5pm... i drove myself home in my colleague's (O) car; another colleague, E, and i have been practicing driving in O's car and it is good that my apartment is on the way back for both O and E, so we take turns to drive ourselves home! i think i am getting better! but i am still very uncertain of myself... and the gears... hmmm. ditzy... stick-shifts are strange things... they appear to be mainly used by the more hippy/european/control-freak clusters of ppl in the usa... they are more or less the norm on the continent. they are apparently more fuel-efficient than automatic-transmission vehicles. i wonder if you can rent stick-shifts in the usa?!
the pile of newly accumulated dishes are still in the sink (of course! i don't have dish-washing little fairies at hand... sob.) and ignoring them, i added another bowl and a pair of chopsticks and some other cutlery to the collection after a quick instant-noodle dinner before dozing off into a nap with a beautiful chamber music piece (i think it's Alexander Borodin : String Quartet #2 'Lark Quartet' Arabesque 6658... not sure.) playing on the radio.
waking up, and not wanting to look at more data... although i should... i decided to check if the weather forecast tomorrow will be thunderstormy... and updated a little of my never-ending skiing-anecdote... it's good to be reminded of happier times...
