tried to get an online iTunes account but it didn't work... instead, my bank account as # pending charges... for US$1... yet the itunes programme insisted that my visa number isn't valid... how IRONIC. called APPLE who then said i should write in to their online-support to ask for help... i don't understand why everything has to be done ONLINE... i prefer the old-fashioned days... you go to a record store... put on a CD to listen... figure out if it is worth you spending some $$$ on the CD or record or casette or whatever... and then pay the store and go home to enjoy your happy find.
online services are meant to make life easier... not more frustrating. CRAP.
***update: at least the charges disappeared! hurray.
then i nearly locked myself out of the lab (and from my bike, and the apartment!)... it's saturday... i am the only one in the lab/office... was going to get some food at the canteen coz i didn't bring my own... left my keys on my desk and walked out the self-closing unforgiving door... had to get a hospital security police to let me back in. EMBARRASSING.
the only consolation is that i was actually wearing my name badge when this little mishap happened... i don't always remember to... it could be a lot worse... imagine... if i won't be let back into the office?! because i don't have my badge to identify me as having a reason to get inside the research center?... i could be literally wandering in the streets till monday!

found out that my other journal article got cited in an article from the journal we wanted to send another article to but didn't because the new journal formatting rules meant that we can only write so much... BUT people ALWAYS CITE MY NAME WRONGLY. I HATE MY NAME. it causes me a lot of grief, even in my own home country.
the initials are what crucially identifies you... and not whatever myriad of different forms it has appeared as... NOT IMPRESSED. =C(
then again, there are thousands of TANs in this crazy world... it's probably not worth the bother.
