i own it... finally!

handbookOFmathematics

this is one book i've always wanted for YEARS... it's one of those books that you wish you had in school / uni / etc. ... one of those books you would never have dreamt of owning because i) you never really thought you'd be using so much of the theoretical maths in your work, ii) it might appear too geeky on a bookshelf, iii) it wasn't available in english when you thought of it (the original is in Russian and then it has been very popular in German-speaking countries and only recently has it been translated into English), iv) it is quite dear ... but after much contemplation... you decided it will be a nifty handy reference to have and so you walk into the the university bookstore (instead of going online to Amazon.com which is another mode of further contemplation for me anyways) and pick up the only copy left on the shelf...

heee... it even includes GRAPH theory and TREES! which i learnt about some years ago in wales... and all these crazy tests of convergence... now i have a place to look up random things pertaining to maths... and! it even has a section on mathematical statistics and modelling... and statistical tables!

and it comes in a spiffy soft but durable plastic cover and the words and figures are printed on acid-free paper by SPRINGER GmbH.

isn't it madness to be so excited about a handbook of mathematics?! well... maybe... but i've not had enough sleep anyways... and i can't seem to sleep now that i've been staying up late the past weeks! sob.

... and i've always wanted this book!

sorry to hear the loss. Hope it turns up; otherwise...do they still make that model? Can help you look for it here.
