i wasn't so bothered before but daylight is becoming more and more precious as the days roll by... the trees have also begun shading their leaves... some of them do so with a flamboyant display of autumny hues. those lining the mississippi river render the scenery with a dappled palette of lime greens, auburn, burgundy and some speckle of evergreens... a little like monet's paintings... a pleasant view during my cycle to work or from the bus window as it crosses the river from st. paul to minneapolis in the mornings.

yesterday evening, i walked pass the large green tree just in the garden courtyard behind my apartment building that is pretty much covered with climbing ivy and noticed that it is almost skeletal bare... no wonder there aren't as many cheeky squirrels scampering about the fire-escape and popping their wee heads near my kitchen window and me trying to scare them away... but then again, i haven't really baked much since f left last friday... it's heart-wrenching saying goodbye...
and as if the weather understood my sadness and angst, it poured and thundered for days and brought a cold chill into minnesota today (and apparently some freak snow blizzard elsewhere)... i wonder if i might survive winter here... it's already 6degC today in Oct. and I wonder if this is winter or fall... gulp. tomorrow's forecast is 1degC! help!
i wish work load would fall like the tree leaves in autumn and remain buried in snow... at least some technical problems have been 'resolved'* and hopefully this wee idea that was germinated many moons ago can lift off to the skies soon! it's going to be the coolest task any participant will ever perform in a study!! (at least i hope so! have to be positive, no?)
but there's still more to be done... and still more to be done... before i can have some real fun...

*PS, if you are my Gor (big brother in chinese-dialect-ism)
*(Gor thanks for sending the JSTK over. we have decided to use the original USB one i brought over from Scotland in the end... adapting analog-to-usb proved far too challenging! perhaps we might solve the electrical problem someday. still it was worth the shot and we didn't blow any fuses yet!)

Hope it doesn't get too much colder, or if it does, I hope it does it properly and you get some crisp winter prettiness and can make a snowman!
Posted by: nick on Thursday, 6 October, 2005 at 23:40 hrsthanks for your comment. my parents are well :) i'll pass on your regards. how do i get in touch with you in the US? i wanted to call you today but realized that i still have your old contact info saved on my phonebook...
Posted by: stel on Friday, 7 October, 2005 at 03:30 hrshey nick... i hope i will get it flying soon so i can share more details... it's kinda exciting but also frustrating at the moment since there's so much details to work out and 2 supervisors to please -- i feel as though i have a split-brain... if you know what i mean.
it's dry today but COLD... i sure hope to build snowmen and play snow-ball friendly-fights with someone... or make snow-angels!
stel, will send you my contact details soon!
