i am at the mercy of paper bureaucracy... i hope it won't take as long as it seems like it would...
trying to get organised... it's really quite hard; i could not concentrate at work nor can i think straight... have executed a few mis-read mishaps/booboos so far... i should really try not to stress... baaah.
what won't i miss?! what shall i bring?... what can i discard or donate?... can i use this yonder...???
one A4-sized box filled with books to be sent back to singapore... i might have another 2 or 3... it actually costs almost 4 times more to ship things from here (uk) back to asia than to america... although i think both destinations are comparable in terms of distances...
slightly confused about the electrical conversion... seems like i might need a step-up transformer so i might use some british electrical appliances in usa... i wonder if they sell such things there or if i might have to get them here... why is it that each country has their own unique electrical plugs and voltage preferences?! why can't there be some universal standard?! quite bizarre if you think about it... hmm.
how did i ever end up owning so many interesting things?!... help.

Posted by: overacuppa on Friday, 13 May, 2005 at 00:33 hrsWhen I came here, I bought this multi-plug converter that has every possible fit. You can buy this online for about $20. It fit Singapore plugs so I'm sure it can fit UK ones. Will snap a pic and send you.
Posted by: monoceros on Friday, 13 May, 2005 at 04:12 hrsoh you mean a universal adaptor? doesn't that only allows the appliance to fit into the socket of the country you travel to but it doesn't change the voltage that comes through? or perhaps yours does that too. the US uses 100-120v and the UK power supply comes in 220-240v... it might be more of a problem going from UK power supply to US appliance because the higher voltage is more likely to cause the internal fuse in the appliance to blow if the power supply isn't stepped down first... on the other hand, going from US power supply to UK appliance, it might be that the appliance won't work because of too low a voltage... hmmm. anyways i am looking forward to receiving the pic! thank you monoceros!
