something tripped the circuitry that connects the electrical supply to half the flat... we have no electricity to power the kitchen lights, bathroom lights, hallway lamp, nor the main light in my little room... but the other rooms seem fine and the other power sockets seem to be working so we still have some light... phew.
but N thinks she might not survive without lights in the bathroom... to which i roll my eyes... because the candles we've placed on the sink seem to me to be good enough and we've shifted her extra lamp to the hallway and she could turn it on too... afterall she's not as blind as i am and i think i can cope... but perhaps people with perfect eyesight are not so good at adapting?! hmm i doubt so... the rods in our retina will adapt quite well...
anyways... guess what's the annoying thing about it all? our landlord and his family are now living in spain! we left an SOS message and can only hope that he will ring back in the morning...
anyone familiar with old-fashioned fuses that are somewhat encased in rectangular chunks? we were looking for switches but none seem to exist except for these rather large rectangular things hiding behind a cover that read "fuses".... i haven't got a clue... was hoping we could simply just turn on a switch... hmm.
looks like we are damsels in slight distress...

Posted by: monoceros on Saturday, 7 May, 2005 at 15:26 hrssomeone's coming on monday morning to fix the fuses but we need to replace the blubs in the spotlights that are in the kitchen... i think A replaced them last weekend (when i was away) but they are probably of too high a voltage than they should be... but we don't really know for sure because A's currently in London but it's quite likely that the wrong blubs were inserted and we need to remove them and insert the right ones instead... i just hope i can reach that beam near the ceiling with a ladder... that's where the lights are!
