this moving thing is stressing me out... i can't work properly... am worrying about 1000 things at the same time... paper work, flights, grant applications, visa etc. and then i look at the books and things i have and i panick --- ahhhhh i have so much stuff... nice spiffy stuff... stuff which i've fossicked over the years and took pains deciding if i should get or keep particularly because i am always on the move... but i can't bring them all with me (doesn't make sense when i have to return again later even if for a while)... and i need to find somewhere to store them for my return in a year's time... crap... i hate this nomadic existence... i don't even have a reliable and proximal base where i can store my things... wish i had a flying caravan... like the one of a real gypsie... sigh.
it's this 'nomadic' identity which i unwittingly remind myself of every time i have to relocate... it makes me feel like i don't ever belong any where. =c(
posted by ~overacuppa~ on Friday, 22 April, 2005 at 00:01 hrsSorry to hear how hard it is. The moving is terrible and I'm going through the same pains, though mine will be just one final move. Your best bet is to find a friend who can store some of your things for you? Take the minimum with you, if possible. I wish I'd done that when I first came. Living in the Mid-West - deep inland - is hard when you want to get things shipped out to another continent. Eh.
Posted by: monoceros on Friday, 22 April, 2005 at 15:35 hrsyup... will try to sort through what i need and what i can afford not to have... hope your packing and shipping will go smoothly. i've used airport cargo once... it's quite convenient if you have access to the car or someone who can drive you there.
someone needs to help me construct a may-mobile... maybe i should learn how to fly a plane... doubt it's possible when i am almost as blind as a bat! bagggh.
