i've sent my report draft to my supervisor... and i hope he'll look over it soon and write his part and send both off to the Trust... before the deadline.
it's packing and sorting and tidying my messy room time... hmm, messy is probably an understatement... but the state of affairs is probably compounded by the fact that my room is rather small...
what do i need... to bring?!
POSTER!!! must not forget that... after all the hassle.... although i don't know how nerve-wrecked i'd be standing in front of it during the poster sessions and trying to appear 'intellectual' etc. i suppose if all else fails and that there are no rabbit burrows they (whoever might be inclinded to walk up to my humble poster) can amuse themselves with my NEW SHOES!

[i went for some retail-therapy 2 weekends ago -- i had no intention to find and bring shoes home... but i did... i found a lovely shoe store on Rose Street that had more styles of mary-janes than i have ever seen in other stores. and they aren't the usual high-street styles! i was naturally really excited... but i couldn't decide between the red and the brown... and even the sales assistant thought i must be the worst case of indecisiveness... in the end, i figured either will come in handy... and both will match my 2-piece corduroy set i found at the Laura Ashley post-christmas sale (in Singapore) which i will wear at the conference to look a little less scruffy.]
weatherpixies say:
maybe it will not be crazily cold yonder... hmm. i'll have to pack my smarter-looking clothes... i guess...
oh yes!!! my spiffy CAMERA!!!
PASSPORTS and e-tix-printouts.... and all the paper docs... oh boy...
research-related whatnots...
apart from packing i need to get myself a new ISIC card... empty my desk drawers... because my landlord is replacing this present desk (which is on loan to him) with a new desk before he and his family move permanently to Spain -- a recent decision which makes things all the more stressful.... but i am getting a new chair! heee. hope it will all be nice and woody...
i should also carry my bicycle up into the flat before i leave...
sigh... i think i am more stressed than excited... more worried that i don't deserve the hospitality that the host lab has kindly arranged... and i've never really been to a large science conference nor visited a big research lab... i am so worried that i might appear dumb and say silly things... i wish one could buy self-confidence... eloquence... and wit! (or Harry Potter's invisible-rendering cloak!)
i know, these are silly worries compared to a lot of other more pressing issues...

Posted by: fatgirl on Tuesday, 29 March, 2005 at 16:49 hrsi'll try to stop stressing...
but the shoes are really fun aren't they?
D (fatgirl)... i often find things when i don't actually go looking for them... and they are either at sales of 50-80% off the original price tag or the other extreme i.e. full price for quality. i think it's worth splurging for a pair of good shoes... i wear mine usually for over 4-5 years, almost daily! if your feet are happy, you could go on walking for a long long time! =C)
