having cycled all the way from the other end of town, i think i looked radiantly out of breath as i entered the KHD salon... the cut i had at CM some months ago stayed well-styled even if my hair has grown much too long and with the little maintenance on my part... i thought: darn... i do look quite nice in them... darn i should have taken a snap before dashing out... oh well.
i showed the hairdresser the printout (she must have thought i was really silly!)... "erm... i quite something like either Meg or Amelie" pointing at their pics... the hairdresser thought the Meg-style would be better... and that perhaps i should have it just a wee bit longer... because i have a fatface... she's too polite to say that but i will be the first to admit! =CP hahahah
you get a shampooing and head-massage before being asked if you'd like a cuppa... i find such offers terribly difficult to resist... as i sat wearing the over-sized apron, with my wet hair still dripping a little and watched the hairdresser comb through my dark hair doing her stuff... i sipped my hot cuppa and wondered if it was a terrible idea afterall... eeeks...
the hairdresser went snip snip... and about 5 inches long of strands fell to the floor, scattered about like autumn leaves and twigs... it feels weird to lose that much hair... your head feels lighter and if you are like me, you'd feel slightly excited about the 'new' you... for a while i did look a little like Amelie with my wet hair... and then as the hairdresser worked her way all around layering it... i looked a little more like Meg in "You've Got Mail!" although i didn't end up looking quite like either i am afraid... the final blow-dry with some hair-cream made it look somewhat naturally messy for my liking... hmm i am not sure if i really love it but it's okay... i guess...
anyways, i went to a fundraising ceilidh tonight with that mess... managed to get an entry ticket and had a great time -- 8-person reel and strip-the-willow are simply brill!!! ... pity Hannah's wedding in 2 weeks won't have a ceilidh even though Martin is Scottish... i think all weddings ought to have ceilidhs... they are such fun and at least you might get acquainted with strangers and be merry about it! BTW i ought to have mentioned in my list of 3s that i find men who can do energetic ceilidh dancing with style attractive... hahahah... and of course ceilidhs are great events for people-watching! heeee... i need to make a mask for the next ceilidh so i can hide behind it to people-watch! rah.

Posted by: monoceros on Sunday, 6 February, 2005 at 14:05 hrsFor once you look like a proper lady, more mature :) seriously that's a nice do...more spunky, exciting =C)
Posted by: Gor on Sunday, 6 February, 2005 at 15:39 hrsoh... i don't know... i miss my hair terribly this morning... sigh... i can't tie it up properly... i hope it grows longer faster and very soon...
i'll need to get some hair-gel-cream sort of thing... and maybe invest in a foldable hairdryer... hmm
Posted by: hrm on Sunday, 6 February, 2005 at 16:06 hrsHey, you do look abit like Meg now except your eyes are bigger! Hee hee. You look GREAT lah, dun worry.
Posted by: fatgirl on Sunday, 6 February, 2005 at 16:34 hrsyes, it's a brilliant cut! You look great in it!!! As your Gor says, it's more spunky!
For me, I always love going to the hairdresser's. Hell, i see my hairdresser more often than i see my relatives or some of my friends! I go every six weeks! And i love it when having my hair shampooed and head massaged. You must learn to relish the experience my dear, and stop fretting every time you need to visit the hairdresser's.
Posted by: dsd on Monday, 7 February, 2005 at 00:57 hrsthanks peeps!
i had a really bad hair day yesterday... =C( and the hairdresser did a little lopsided job even though i highlighted it to her that the right side seemed less sculpted... so i trimmed my hair myself yesterday (horrified to see how much more hair littered the bathroom!)... it looks better to me now... short hair requires far too much maintenance! i think i prefer longer hairdos out of pure laziness... think i might prefer going to CM next time even if they are a little more pricey... the confidence factor is a notch higher! =CP
Posted by: hrm on Monday, 7 February, 2005 at 12:05 hrsIt's nice and refreshing! agree with the maintenance part....i had hair about your length when i was back in univ....and grew it out since then....so i guess that says it all :=)
i think with this hairstyle you can either maintain the messy tousled look by bending over and just giving the hair a good ruffle; or, get one of those cute hairslides and pin up the fringe, and tuck the layers behind the ears. hope this helps!!
In the meantime, just enjoy the NEW you! :)
Posted by: Lynette on Monday, 7 February, 2005 at 18:12 hrs=C) this weblog thingie is really fun with everyone chirping =C) makes me happeeee
i think i'll invest in a hair dryer... it's great keeping hair messy... borrowed A's today and had a go with this nice bodyshop hair gel i got years ago (haha actually for yours and Gor's wedding!!! to keep my hair up for that clippy hairdo!) and gave my silly hair some spunk! rah.
Nnnooooooo!!!! Stick with the short, sassy do!
Whoever said looking good was easy????
Posted by: dsd on Tuesday, 8 February, 2005 at 00:42 hrsShort sassy do for going out....reserve the clippy hairdo for work, and when you just want the hair off your face :=)
Anyways, the next time you are back and need a haircut, you can try my hairdresser. She's rather patient and quite good with short hairstyles if you plan to maintain your current hairstyle....She's local but can speak Swedish, as she stayed in Sweden for a couple of years when she was younger, having followed her dad who got an overseas posting there...:)
i know it's silly because everyone seems to like my new hairdo BUT i can't wait for my hair to grow longer... =Cp
