sigh...

am applying for funding to travel to NY for the 2005 Cognitive Neuroscience Society?s Annual Meeting in April... and trying to tie in a visit to my other supervisor's lab in Minneapolis... and was hoping to drop by to say hello to monoceros... but then i got woken up from my dreamy fantasies by the reality of how huge USA actually is... it's probably akin to Aussie-Land... where you can travel miles and miles of country before you enter the next state. wouldn't it be nice if we could just think ourselves into places we wish to be???... darn... i should be pursuing a phd in quantum mechanics instead (just so maybe i could suss out a little of the principles of teleportation! ha... i know i am dreaming again!).... if i only had the calibre and patience to mull over strings of equations and postulations that are formulated in symbolic terminology... oh drats... let's hope i get some funding anyways... =C?

yes, the US is so large. I find the state of Michigan huge as it is. It's too bad that the train doesn't always go everywhere. And it takes too long sometimes.

i do like trains!! alot more than buses... which tend to make me really ill... and i can actually read on trains! :C)

it takes almost 16-18 hours to travel from NY to Ann Arbor by train!!! that's the time i roughly need to fly to Singapore from Edinburgh... crikey!

All the best with the application!

I'm ok with either buses or trains...it really depends on the city I'm in. For some cities, sitting on the buses is actually more interesting and fun 'cos you get to see more things. But I think for going cross-country like in Europe, nothing beats the trains!

good luck with securing the funding... yeah i've always wished that i know "xiao ding dong" (you know that cartoon with the blue cat from the future) and be able to borrow his door which opens up to where you want to go, be it another country or another planet...

heyee thanks for the good-wishes... i sure hope something turns up.

小叮当 (is that how you write it?! -- i say it as "xiao ding dang" but i can't remember how it's written in Japanese?!) is so fun!!
