mini make-over for "ugly-duckling"

a minor surgery was needed to replace ugly-duckling's (me cello's) retractable tail as it was flaking and molting (rusting -- yes shocking!!! i think it's because of the damp little loft i lived in)... i braved the weekend traffic (Her Majesty, the Queen, was here to open the Scottish Parliament) and carried it to the 'hospital' for emergency consultation . the tail-replacement was a swift job (without extra costs) but i took ages to decide whether i ought to get a fibre-glass cover-shield for duckling... there was one (deep blue in colour with blue velvety lining) which was much reduced because it has a strange fault (wheels were added but the handle for wheeling it was missing) but was nonetheless new and in good condition and the store assistant suggested i could use an extra strap as an alternative to the missing built-in handle and it seems to work fine. these 'shields' can cost quite a bomb... and they weigh like one too. in the end i gave in... i also upgraded my heavy bow to a lighter one (a standard cello bow weighs about 80g apparently)... just in case you think i've also swope ugly duckling with another mate -- i haven't. we're still sticking together for a while. *wink*

yes i know, it's not Christmas yet... but well... we deserve it! and i think we are sounding just a wee bit lovelier...

oh! So duckling has got a bit of a makeover! :p

But yeah, i think you deserve it...you don't pamper yourself enough!

that's because there isn't anyone here to make sure i get pampered!!! sob... they don't even post treats from singapore any more... i have to send requests... sob... (HINT HINT HINT!) *grins*

yes i know i CAN and DO pamper myself... perhaps just not often enough like you say... there's just not much you can get here to pamper meself... no delicious pepper crab or mouth-watering dishes which doesn't cost a bomb... well, there are a few concerts coming up so i'll try to catch them... will try to get some new clothes...to replace the scruffy worned ones and another mary-jane i hope --- that is IF i find ones i like & they will fit!... which is a nightmare; i still haven't found a suitable pair of water-proof trousers after almost a decade!!! and shopping is such a drag!
