gosh... life is getting more complicated than necessary.
another phd student got in touch with me some weeks ago and inquired if we would go flat-hunting together... i thought, why not. we found a lovely place not far from where i am living which is rather dear for 2 but really reasonable for a 3-persons flatshare with great ammenities including a dishwasher! but we didn't know a 3rd person and kind of met a scottish girl who was also flat-hunting over the weekend. i asked if this girl might be interested in a trio flatshare with 2 postgrads and she seemed keen... but because i wasn't sure if it'd be a problem with her being an undergrad (some landlords specifically indicated postgrads only), i emailed a couple of other postgrads who left messages on the studentpad indicating their search for a place... one of them actually got back but he absent-mindedly forgot his mobile phone at home when he came up for the festival and flat-hunt...so my messages were not heard until he returned and found himself a place -- oh well. but another german girl wrote back just yesterday... but we've arranged to bring the scottish girl to the nice place we've found... so it's all horrible and messy right now... because i don't know what to do and the other postgrad seem suddenly very keen to take this lovely place and i really don't need to be in this mess which i have helped to create. well done may! grrrrr.
UPDATE (18:40hrs):
maybe it's a blessing in disguise... was meant to meet the scottish girl today to get to know her a bit more but she called it off ... been arranging all these meetings/viewings and letting her know in advance but she didn't seem to take the initiative to call back (hmmm maybe she's not so keen?! oh well)....and this german girl seems lovely... met her on her arrival today (for a short flat-hunt visit) at the Elephant house and perhaps all the mess i helped engineered is all going to be cleaned up soon... maybe... oh please....
hope it all worked out! Having a german flatmate would be good heh? You can practise speaking German with her!

Posted by: Van Tan on Saturday, 21 August, 2004 at 02:59 hrsoh! we took the nice flat (see new entry) -- i suppose it'd be good to practice my german if antje would speak to me in german... i think she's rather keen in speaking english... sigh. oh well. perhaps i'll learn some spanish as a 4th/5th language from nahara, the mexican?! but perhaps my brain will start to protest...
