sigh... you know it's bloody hard looking for a nice place to rent or to call home. Edinburgh has become so expensive! some landlords/ladies are just so opportunistic (they would rent it out but only for about 11months so that they could have the flats available to rent out to the performing artists over the Festival for an even more expensive rate)... it's really ridiculous.
Celine's (Julie Delpy in Before Sunset) one-person studio is a bit like where i am currently staying... only her's is some 4-6 times bigger... with partitioned areas (kitchen space/ lounge/ double bed)... wouldn't mind her place which has a row of french windows and balconies... think it's really sweet... *dreams*
seen some really lovely places... which are understandably pricey...and then there are some others which are quite stinky... i really don't get the Brits and their carpet-obsessions... and then of course some are on the main roads... i really need my peace... sigh. sometimes i wish i wasn't so hard to please... but i suppose there are things which you know you'd like... no?! hmm.
hope some nice and affordable place will be available... for October.

Are the modern homes still carpeted all over?
Posted by: joan on Monday, 16 August, 2004 at 08:50 hrsi suppose the carpets are there to keep the place warm... although many places that are rented out to students tend to have very awful carpets because they are old and mucky...
most modern flat owners don't really carpet their floors... but you still find lots that have carpets... i suppose if they are nice and clean it's okay. otherwise, it is quite off-putting.
hope i find a place soon too...
