perhaps i should have said that, but instead, i said tch?ss! to Sabine this misty morning after sharing breakfast at the Elephant House. then, still fighting sleep's cobweb, i cycled to the creative writing class, leaving her to make her way down the mound to catch the airport bus... it's been quite an intense week of sharing my wee room-loft-place and looking after another person... and i was reminded of the many things that attracted me back to this charming city. it was also a chance for both of us to catch up with our lives, meet some of my friends and get a glimpse of where we are now... how we have moved on since many years back... etc.
some things just never seem to change... like the neurotic tendencies you know of a person, their slightly bizarre rationalisations, their child-like enthusiasm of something seemingly mundane.... it's amazing how even the most different of all people can still become friends... and it reminds me of what D once shared with me.... about friends or acquaintances and the person(s) with whom you become emotionally entwined -- that it is easier to accept how your friends are like perhaps because you don't need to literally live with them 24/7... or something to that extent...
we didn't get to experience all things scottish; i didn't manage to get Sabine to try Haggis, nor end her porridge cravings, neither did we have time to explore the highlands, nor partake in some whisky-tasting... etc. but i suppose you simply can't have it all... and we've done quite a lot.
i am exhausted from all the hosting/worrying, cycling, walking, ceilidhing, sleeping on the cork floor of the loft... and i have yet manged to figure out where a Paul who's just managed to catch his train with a parcel might be going, who he is, and what's in the parcel, and what's going to happen... all that needs to be conjured up by tomorrow morning -- even if hopelessly sketchily done -- and i am desperately needing some good sleep. SOS!
