...at 7:10am tomorrow after a 2-days delay...and i'll be picking her up at the bus station. quite excited... we've been friends since our time in wales; she being a part-time princess in the castle grounds, and i was chasing sheep down the 'm4' -- a gravel path flanked by grazing fields, so fondly named after generations of students. things were slightly odd sometimes... we were both growing up and getting used to our own insecurities, idiosyncracies etc.. puberty is a weird time of one's life. but i suppose ours is probably one of those friendships that have stood the test of quite a bit of time!
i still remember having caused much distress... me and my passport... through Slovakia without an official letter saying that i didn't need a visa... border guards between Hungary and Slovakia demanded that i got off at the next stop and poor Sabine had to get out too... we spent the night at the train station police office without food, and my passport confiscated... an Australian family and other Russians were among the 'captives' for not having the 'right documents' or as baits for US$60 each for passage through. obviously i didn't have that much money and we did a detour back through Hungary, and then through Germany and then arriving in Czech Republic....
Sabine has always encouraged me to try new things... i being the more cautious of us two in most instances partly because growing up in a built-up city makes you hopelessly ignorant about nature and all the wonderful activities one could do and partly because all fun things have an element of danger!... yet even if i've learnt to be more adventurous, i've probably failed in inparting some of my better organisation skills to her (or perhaps succeeded too well in learning to be more disorganised?! y'know how we brush off the traits from the people we hang around?! hmm...).... and i still lose out in our competition of indecisiveness.... but i am a happy loser in such situations!
hmm... i wonder what fun we'll end up concocting this time... walk in the holyrood park, possibly a visit to craigmillar's castle, trip to rosslyn, an afternoon in the botanic garden, and wondering about in the city's museums are some activities that could occupy her time here.... not sure if we'll still do a trip up to loch lomond or a day-tour in the neighbouring parts of scotland... hmmm so much you could possibly do here... so much i'd like to explore too.
and i still have yet decided if i'm going to do this creative writing course..... oh help.
