withdrawal symptom at its worst

i am sick of my own cooking... in fact.. i am sick of all edible things i can find here. blagggh. it's getting so bad; all i do is stare into my non-empty fridge and feel just as uninspired as i did before opening the fridge door. the fusion-affair i often end up concocting is not as fun as it seems any more. whaaaaa XcD ?. i can't wait to gobble up all the delectably lip-smacking scrumptious yums in a few days? time? this waiting is driving me insane! ...oh evil time-stretcher....

argh. I know the feeling - here on my island, I seem to have got into the habit of eating the same thing virtually every day, while daydreaming about green vegetables and coriander and cardamom and cream and so on and so on... In the local mini-supermarket, I can't get hold of most ingredients I need, so cookbooks can't do me much good, but when I was feeling uninspired in Edinburgh, I found a browse in the cookbook section of a bookshop would usually make me start dreaming about some particular ingredient or dish. In fact, thinking about food is making me hungry, so better stop. Hope you manage to cobble together something tasty!

thanks for your kind sympathies Nick! i did come up with something... not the most exciting... boiled jersey (i think they were jersey?!) potatoes with spring-onion-coriander butter and some fried luncheon meat and 2 juicy vine tomatoes that were left in the fridge.... if you want something (possibly dried stuff; cardamoms, spices etc...), let me know... i could send you a food parcel! no, i am serious. i truly empathise.

BTW i love those scenic pictures you have included in your website Nick! hope the typhoon is gone for the summer.

yes, just bear with it for a couple more days. Soon you'll be back to food paradise! we'll stuff ourselves silly. ;p

Argh! Don't say 'juicy vine tomatoes'! Please!

Thanks for the offer, though... I'm not quite emergency-food-parcel desperate yet, but I'll let you know if the cardamom craving gets worse! Have a great time in Singapore, too (I'm guessing that's the place where the scrumptious food will be...?)

And gosh, I wish typhoon season was over - there's a really big one heading this way. And on a weekend, too. Argh!

thanks Joan...we have to go food-fossicking!

Nick! i am sorry! but yes, let me know when you get cardamon-desperate and send your snail-mail add.! take care with all the typhoons! yup... it is Singapore that i am flying out to. BTW the perception-in-action pages are up (http://www.perception-in-action.ed.ac.uk/)! Gert-Jan made them... it's shaping up. you must come back! :C)
