holes and bugs...

the Guardian report today on Microsoft is awful news to PC-windows users....

it is awful as well as enlightening because ultimately, no matter how much you try to hide things from others, they leak out at some point. this is prevalent in governments, organisations, relationships etc.

perhaps people who enjoy hacking windows systems are annoyed with Microsoft?s monopoly, perhaps the loop holes are just too easy for bug-travels, perhaps they just want to tell others that we shouldn't be so complacent or blas?; thinking that all the updates will somehow patch up the holes. maybe it?s also a protest against paternalistic governance, that we the consumers do not know better. maybe we don?t, but at least it is only ethical to come clean, and consumers have the right to know.

.... update 22nd Feb 2004 ....
into the mind of the worm creator.... a report in The Observer
